Teaser Tuesday

It's time to tease! And it's my birthday tomorrow, which I usually don't announce because the idea of a wait staff singing a rousing chorus of happy birthday while the whole restaurant stares terrifies me. But since you can't sing through the internet, I feel pretty safe.
Here's a piece of 365 Days Until I Disappear.

I love, love, LOVE this line:

"The rise and fall of whitewash hills, power lines stretched like tightropes over the distance, mimic my nerves, piano wire taut, making me wish we were crossing state lines to some imaginary place where everything is better."

Your MC's voice is very real and heartbreaking. :)

Wow, this is truly amazing...you capture all the emotions with such purity and truth. This paragraph srsly brought tears to my eyes:

The skin on the inside of his wrist is disturbingly delicate, big brothers shouldn’t be so breakable. He pulls his hand from mine and locks it on the scruff of my neck, he’s never been good with affection, but at least the roughness is familiar. Big, calloused hands that lifted me up to look at the ocean, inspected scraped knees, checked for fevers, kept me safe.

*raises hand* I'll be happy to beta read for you!

I love these descriptions and the way it's so easy to fall right into your mc's story. The characters are really holding their own here. It's very powerful.

This is so sad, but I love it. Every single word is perfect and beautiful in the way you string them together to form perfect prose :)
